Hi,

Yes Elsie is Allan's  sister they were my husbands mothers brother and sister, they were part of a big family from the Forest of Dean but alot moved to different parts of the county and I presume lost touch. My inlaws moved to Birmingham where I now live.Thank you but the meeks are not really the family I am after it is the Thomas side.

I can't thank all enough for todays work.

Janice, what was the source of the info that there were actually six daughters?  Can any more be gathered from that source?

Was Elsie still alive when hubby A E Meek died? Is there likely to be a funeral for her round about then too, when who knows, Allan, Emma and their girls might be there (and the newspapaer reporter might be a bit more detailed...)

OK maybe I am clutching straws, but that is what this game is all about, then suddenly one avenue of enquiry comes good. well, that is the idea!

Have you got Allan and Emma's marriage cert? Was he a bachelor? just wondering if the missing daughters could have been born pre 1929 from a previous marriage. Unlikely to be Emma's, she was only 20 when marrying Allan, but wondered if could be his.

 - still thinking this one over whilst ironing!!!

Well, we like the awkward ones don't we??!!  ;D Its been a challenge!!

I'm wondering if we've missed a couple earlier on though, pre war years, maybe a mistranscribed one  :-\

I thought maybe A Meeks was an uncle of the girls, as he must have been a close family member for their parents to take them to a funeral, maybe if you can find descendants of his (his children, cousins to the girls) they could give you info on who the other girls are/marriages etc...

I have just done Mudway's from 1926-29 inclusive, but found none born to a mum called Mudway.

I think this mystery might only be solved if you manage to find living descendents from one of the other girsl found so far.

Hi,

A really big thank you for all your help with these children, and now to see if and who they married, and also if they had children.I am going to send for a couple of their Birth Certs to see where they were born address etc and go from there.
Kind Regards

Their marriages will be too late for FreeBMD, Janice, so if you dont have access to the full indexes, then you will need someone to do the trawling for you again.

That's why I thought a Will for Allan might be a help - they can be wonderful at listing daughters with their married names!! Do you know when Allan was born? was he def spelt with the slightly unusual 2 'l's' We know he was alive in 1960 if he went to the Wells funeral - any other clues as to when he might have died? Or Emma his wife? If she outlived him then hers may be a more informative Will.

The daughter I found in bn 1938 had a reasonably unusual Christian name, so I will look for a few years for a marriage for her, for you.
