William CURTEIS - Kent
« on: Monday 31 March 08 13:13 BST (UK) »
Could someone assist me with information about William Curteis born 1723 Tenterden Kent England. Father could be John and mother Ann Iden. Am unable to prove this without parish look up. I am sure of the date of birth as i have worked back from Death records. John could have been from Maidstone and Ann from Rolvenden. If these are the only parents to a William of this date then i will be sure to follow this back to existing line. This is the missing link back to 1445. Have been on this for 5 years but stumped on this generation.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give.Any one else interested in Curteis please contact me as i may be able to help.

From Tenterden Parish records - KFHS CD 02/07

William son of Mr John & Ann Curteis baptised 27/4/1723

Also

Elizabeth - 26/3/1725
Mary - 18/9/1728 ( John noted noted as "Gent")
Ann - 16/12/1730

Have you seen these Curteis of Tenterden wills, there looks to be a couple of good candidates for John and William? I have been very lucky in finding wills that back up my findings  from parish records.

You will be able to get copies from the Centre for Kentish Studies in Maidstone. You have to order by post and I have found that they give a prompt service.
