Can any one help
« on: Friday 28 March 08 11:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi Folks

I have a Selena Pickford who married a Garside in 1904 December , I am trying to find her birth, looked on BMD index but I cant find a birth anywhere. Do not have Ancestry, I know I can order the marriage cert but before I do, as I have other certs to order as well would really like to find out when  and where she was born.

Hi Sunnydays,
If you look on the right of your post, you see the word [modify] - click on this, and you can modify what you've written at any time, including the title  ;)

Hi Sunny days( I wish it was!)

Do you have the 1904 marriage cert? Do you know what her dad's name was or what he did.

Checking Free BMD(Ashton Dec 1904) for the full details of that marriage gives me a choice of  George Barton or Henry Bennett- not a Garside  ???

Regards

Carol

Ooops just re-read your post- you DON'T have the marriage cert  :-[

The nearest I could find in 1901 is a Selina Pickford born in Mossley Cheshire in 1873,but she's the wife of John,so maybe he died and this marriage was a second one for her?

John Pickford possibly married a Selina Davenport in Ashton in Sept 1899.
Other names with the same refs are Joe Hanson and Matilda Platt.

Hi Carol

A very senior moment, apologies, I have a marriage in 1904 of Selena Pickford December 1904 8d 923, where I was confused was with a Selena Garside marriage in 1932 to a John Robert Hadfield, my Pickford family is a horror story!!!! the moderator has said I should review my post, if there are around perhaps they can delete it for me. Apologies all round.
Carol yes it is Sunnydays in Spain

Don't worry Kate- we all have them  ::)

I've heard of having your knickers in a twist but not your Selina's ;)

That was just Ruskie saying that if at any time you realise you've made a mistake you can always amend it by going back in to modify the posting.

Of course I think in your case it was the title you weren't happy with.

Go back in and change it then......no probs.

Anyway, what do you think of my idea that Selina may have been married before?

Hi!

So is it me getting in a twist or is this all really confusing?
Can I start from the very beginning, a very good place to start?
Selina Pickford, marriage in 1904 - is she supposed to have married a Garside or is that someone else? or are we happy that she could have married Barton or Bennet?
