I'm just checking the 1851 census.  Couldn't find a marriage for Martha on FreeBMD but perhaps that occurred pre-1837  :-\

Sorry Jane I added the  de Koven marriage to my first post. I didn't think anyone on the thread was online so I just slipped it into the post rather than put another message on. I thought that was probably all I was going to be able find and then I turned up the Marylebone death afterwards.

Regards

Valda

We're still hot on the trail. Gaynor  ;D  Of course there's a possibility that Martha C. had multiple marriages  :o  She's not showing on the 1851 census even when I take out the surname.  Her dob & place of birth are pretty consistant throughout the censuses as being 1801, Stoke Newington, Middlesex.
Onwards & upwards,

jane

Ahh, yes I did miss the marriage Valda...extra brownie points  ;D

Now, brownie points for me  ;)  FreeBMD - death Kenneth Alexander De Kovens  Q2 1865, Kensington (1a 82)

Theoretically we should be able to find Kenneth & Martha De Koven (s) on the 1841, 1851 & 1861 censuses..... no luck I'm afraid ::)  Even went north of the border to Scotland as I thought Kenneth sounded a bit Scottish  :-\

However, although not relevant at the moment, this might be worth putting on the back burner;
The IGI gave the baptism (extracted) of a Martha Carolina WEST born 4/12/1800, baptised 14/1/1801, Stoke Kewington (I'll take that as Newington) d/o John & Elizabeth

Gaynor, I did spot a couple of people on Ancestry researching James Longman Gawler, so if you don't have a sub I'd be willing to contact them & get you together  :D (genealogical match making)

Hi Jane

That would be great to link up.  This is my direct line branch by marriage but I have a direct line descendant to him in Australia that I'm helping on this section.

Sorry for the time of reply as I think I'm sleeping in Australia while your working on this.  While you have been helping me I have been working and completed some work for some enquiries on Ancestry with my work.

It's nice for me to receive some help and I really appreciate your effort.   :)

The de KOVEN lot may have been American as there are a couple of marriages in London in the 1880s for sons of a Henry de KOVEN of Newport, Rhode Island - from The Times.
