1891 census thomas shire morrison(completed)

hello,

i would be forever grateful, if someone could find thomas shire Morrison on the 1891 census. he was born about 1836-1839 in Aberdeen Scotland,he was a master tailor. he should have been in London at the time but i have been unable to find him.

that you already have the 1901 census with Emma as T.S. Morrison, wife, but I assume that was a mistake on the 1901 census as Emma was listed as a widow in 1891

hi Barbara,

thank you,thomas shire did not die until 1912! so why did she list herself a widow?  William bayly is my great grandfather, Emma is my great grandmother.  i believe they lived together as a couple until Williams death in 1903. i have never found a marriage for them,no surprise since Emma's husband was alive!


when Emma died, her daughter gave her name as Emma Morrison bayley, wife of thomas shire Morrison!!! she died in 1904.

it is quite the mystery

I see a Thomas S. Morrison aged 72 died in St. Olave district, do you have his death certificate?  Perhaps they divorced?

yes i have both the death certificates,after looking at Emma's her name was given as Emma Morrison bayley wife of thomas shire Morrison bayley!!!!!

i guess the big question is why he doesn't show up on the census? a few of his children listed him as deceased at the time of their marriage even though he was alive at the time.

Hi Eric,

Very odd, I had just wondered if it was the correct death cert for him, but obviously you know all the facts.

Perhaps he went back to Scotland, have you looked for him there?

yes i have looked at the 1891 and 1901 in Scotland,lots of thomas Morrison though, it would have been nice of him to use his middle name but that would be to easy.

i often wonder if he was in prison?

If in prison, he should still have been on the census.  Maybe he changed his name!
