Maybe she was christened Mary Jane or Jane Mary and couldn't decide whether to use Mary or Jane, who knows.
If we could find the family in 1861 it might help.  There was no death of a Jane Fanthorpe followed by another Edward marriage in Lincs or Lancs.   There was another Edward marriage in 1870 but that was to a woman named Frances.

Yes, I saw him in 1861 aged 15, clearly a different bloke.

I can't find a suitable person at East or West Allington in 1841 (or a baptism), no FANTHORP marriage at Allington.

I can see Mary ROBINSON 2 in Fulstow in 1841, dau of James and Elizabeth, the baptism is in the IGI.  She is a servant aged 11 in 1851.
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

If you  go to this site

www.lineagelincs.com  or contact Jean Fanthorpe   on  lineage.lins@ntlworld.com

They are a wealth of knowledge on the Family, a few years ago the Fanthorpe clan had a reunion in Fulstow and they had a walk around the village looking at places the relatives had lived.

Hi there
I have been researching his brother Jesse, born 1842 at Hallington. Have a reasonable amount of information about him (he emigrated to Australia in 1864), his brother James (emigrated to New Zealand) and Charles. Let me know if you are interested.
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark
Thanks for the offer.  I'll take anything you have on the Fanthorpes please.  I have a two or three others that would be glad of the info, if that's ok with you.

Much obliged
Dave

Hi Dave
I became interested in Edward's brother Jesse (bp 22 May 1842) as he emigrated to South Australia onboard the 'Tarquin' in 1864. He lived in Naracoorte for some years before his accidental horse and buggy death in July 1872. I have probate, inquest and other docs on him. His brother James emigrated with his family to NZ in 1874 or 1875, his daughter Rose Ann eventually emigrating to Sydney, NSW with her husband Angus Cameron. Together they ran a pub there. Angus died in 1912 and Rose in 1918. Edward's brother Charles is listed as coming to Australia onboard the 'Melanope' in 1878. I have found nothing further on him.
There is probably too much information to post on a Chat Forum. If you give me an email I will contact you.
Cheers
Mark

HELLLOOOOO???? *listens for an echo*.  I have started researching my sons family tree and the Fanthorpe family you are discussing is his mother's father's side.  James who went to NZ is the ancestor.  I have Jame's father's name but not his mother's maiden name.  If you are out there I would definitely appreciate any further information you have regarding either the ancestors or the descendants of the above Fanthorpes.
