Sorry Wolfie - I did not check page 2 !!
I had come across this family before and am hoping this is the one.  I think you may be right about the 1911 giving me more info - I will then be able to check John and his wife Jane out and hopefully the birthplace will confirm.
Many thanks for that.
Jean

Ford Terrace is on a Circa 1919 map of Chilton, or Chilton Buildings as it was called then (Don't know if I'm allowed to post a copy here), and it's still there now.  I went to have a look the other day, as my Dad was born at No.8 in 1925.  It doesn't seem to be on the 1911 Census, so must have been built between 1911 and 1919.

As I posted previously: Ford Terrace, Chilton is still there go to http://gis.durham.gov.uk/website/interMAP/viewer.htm and search on the Post Code DL170JG, which will centre the map on to Ford Terrace. You can see it on Google Street View at http://www.rootschat.com/links/0con/

I was wrong.  Ford Terrace Chilton IS in the 1911 Census.  In the summary book for No.20, the Head of household is Mr. Robinson, and he has 2 females living with him.

Thanks for your response Catleugh.  I too have found the entry for 20 Ford Terrace which does show my husband's grandfather, grandmother and aunt.  His father was born at number 20 in 1912!

Don't know if anybody is still interested.  Ford Terrace does not appear in the Jan 1909 Election Register, but it is there in the Jan 1910 one.
