trying to  make a little sense  of it all

ok  so  on  his  mariage  and death certficates  his  name  is Robert James Charles Underwood  born  between  1869 and 1872  by  the information  to hand

the BISA  lists Robert James Charles  Underdown  as one of  the children to Robert Underdown and Elizabeth McBroom

There is a birth in Victoria  in 1866
Robert Charles Alexr UNDERDOWN born 1866 at
SHURST to Robert UNDERDOWN & Elizabeth Ann MCBROOM
Ref =4796

So  therefore  are  they  one in  the same  or two entirely different  men  with  the same  mothers names  and the same chrisitian name of  their father??

Is  the coincidence  just too much

Then if so why so  did he  change his name?  Maybe  he just didn't like it or  he was  making a  new  home for himself with a new name?

That's it Jenn......we need to prove or disprove that very thing......

I am finding the lack of information turning up on Robert Underwoods very off putting......

If he was Robert Underdown ....why change to Underwood?   ???  ???

Found the marriage of Joshua George in EMU CK in 1896 to an Eliza McKinnon.
Ref = 1797

That's another  one ticked off if it is William Joshua George!

children = Hannah Elizabeth STRIBLEY, PITTERSON (1853-1918),
Robert James (1855-),
Thomas David (1857-), died in 1885
Joshua George, died aged 22 months in 1861
Mary Elizabeth Ann (1861-), died 1947
Sarah Jane (1863-), died 1944
Robert James Charles (1865-),
William Joshua George (1867-), married in 1896?
Henry Emanuel (1874-)

so we need to find ....
the death of Robert James born 1855
what happened to henry Emanuel
and also Robert James Charles

Now just to add to the confusion.....Thomas D Underdown's death appears to have been registered in NSW as well in 1885!  ::)  ::)

This is going on word of mouth but we have been told that there is a lot of Underwoods in the Roma, Cunnamulla, St George area don't know what help this is but just threw it in the mix.... ???

I wonder though if the boys moved up here after the father died in 1886
Robert James (1855-), must have died to have another Robert James + Charles 10 years later.
Thomas David (1857-),  died 1885 QUEANBEYAN  (isn't this Canberra)
Leaves us with
Joshua George ?
William Joshua George 1867
Henry Emanual 1874
Along with Robert JC 1865/1869/1872
I think Joshua George must have died as well hence William Joshua George

Thomas died the year before his father.  If there had been a name change perhaps when the father died they found out and moved to Queensland as Underwood?????

This is just me sorting my mind out here hope I am not confusing you all now.

ohoh while I was typing and thinking Raylen found William and Joshua... :P ::)
Derbyshire - HUNT, BRADFORD, Worcestershire - NOTT, BROOKING, Glasgow - CAMPBELL, Gloucestershire - BATEMAN, CHURCHILL, Ireland - McGILL, McDONALD, ILAND[also Ireland Irland](possible Manchester). Australia - UNDERWOOD, BROOM/MCBROOM
