Elizabeth  Croucher 1853 Hartlip was the daughter of James Croucher/ Emily Hales

With reference to the above comment, does anyone know who Emily Hales Parents were ?? In the 1841 Census she appears with Frances Hales (age 65) whose husband William Hales died in 1831 - but she already had a daughter named Emily born circa 1811, so was she a granddaughter ?

Thanks

Best part is a link to a new place.- Chart Sutton- Maybe Alex and I can find our earlier Chambers .
 Alta

I've looked at the 1841 & 1851 census for Chart Sutton, both Chandlers and Chambers there so it looks hopeful and of course my Robert Chambers/Chandler (G4 grandfather)  born c1777 was in Hollingbourne, not a million miles away and could have been a stray to H/Bourne.

Would be good if Alta & I could get something out of this after our hours of searching for the illusive Chambers/Chandlers!!

My goodness all these names are familiar to me, I am a Kitchingham from Rainham in Kent, the Chambers and the Hales are very old Rainham families as of course are the Kitchinghams.

My dear old father died in February aged 90, last of the old Rainham Kitchinghams.
I have heard my mother and father speak of all these families.

Good luck with your search.
