Hi ev,

I haven't got a photo of Alfred but I am pretty sure he stood on two legs!

Yes, his brother Edward died in WWI.  I am searching the M&D records for a second (or is it for the third) time and if I don't find anything I will have to wait for the 1911 Census data to be released.  I can't find anything in the New York emigration listings either.

Cheers,  Magelec

Hi Bryant,

Thanks for the info.  I tried the link you sent but there were no emigrating Magaurans to be found.  I don't understand why I didn't get a result.  Anyway, I will be going to the Brighton History Centre on Tuesday to access Ancestry and, hopefully, their emigration records and, hopefully, have a bit more luck.

If you can point me in the right direction I would be grateful but I expect you have enough to do for yourself.

Cheers,

David

Hello David

Towards the bottom of the page....in the centre

The box with the picture of the ship  ;D not the one on the left, the one centre bottom (however they both work)
18 Mar 08-new
Passenger lists now complete (click on that)......

enter surname (don't input anything else) and up they pop

Hello Bryant,

Thanks for the advice.  It worked like magic.  Unfortunately none of them are my Alfred.  I guess I will have to plod along reviewing the marriages recorded and then start on the deaths again.  My mystery man must be recorded somewhere.

Thanks for your help in getting me this far.

David
