I am afraid its a bit of a dead end with my grandma as I do not know 100% sure what name she was born under or where she was born. I think she was illigitimate and it seems to be well hidden. I have checked Rootsweb (as I transcribe for them) and posted several times to find her.
She is either Ada Boston or Ada Pritchard born 1st May 1876
Her mother was Emma Pritchard born in Roddington Shropshire but she moved to Liverpool so she could have been born in Shropshire or Liverpool. I have worked out 1876 from her marriage & death certificates. My mother is no help because she was the baby of the family and was told only what they wanted her to know. If you can help that would be great.

Hi my grandmother Hannah Bonney used to work at Nelsons Jam. What happened to the family who owned it, think it was the Porters, Tom and his sons William and "?" ? Does anyone have any photos of the owners?

Has anyone had any luck with the employee archives? I may also try to find out about the staff.

I wrote to Premier Foods and also to Hartley's who took over Nelson's but I received no reply.

The term  "Traffic Jam"   started and was invented one day  when a Lorry from the Jam factory collided with the traffic lights  at the junction of Long Lane  and the East Lancs road.

The traffic news reporter on  BBC Radio Merseyside   said  that there was a two mile tail back of traffic on the East Lancs Road.
