Chapel of Garioch
« on: Wednesday 12 January 05 21:34 GMT (UK) »
I have recently found a  Georgina Abel BLAKE who married into the Baker family from Essex.   Georgina was born in November 1871  in Chapel of Garioch, Aberdeen.  That is presuming that Garioch is not the place where she was born and the chapel the place that she was baptized, being a mere englander I am not well informed about Scotland.    Georgina and Offord Baker married in Melbourne Australia in 1890.  If anybody knows anything about this family I would love to hear from them.     Georgina's father was John Blake and her mother Isabella Smith.

Hello
Georgina Abel Blake was my great grandfather's sister.
The family migrated from Scotland in 1881 to Melbourne.
Her father John Smith was a builder or mason. He died in 1895 at Trawool , near Seymour after falling from a horse. He was supervising a construction job at the time.
Her mother Isabella Blake (Smith) seems to have been from Lauchentilly, near Kenmay, but the moved around quite frequently, presumably to different construction jobs.
Other siblings:
James
Charles
John Alexander (my G grandfather)
Barbara.
