Hi kizziemay,
Robert Little and Margaret  (peggy) Grant of Priorhill, Canonbie had a son Lewis   born and babtised 17 may 1779, died 30 may 1859  this is from an extract of the family bible and is confirmed by old parish records.
one other son of this marriage is John Little born 3 april 1762.
peggy grant is believed to have come from Speyside with her father in 1745
at the time bonnie prince charlie came south.

Robert little was a Blacksmith in Canonbie, as were all my predecessors inc my father, albeit in cumbria by then.

mgscott and I are cousins, we have possible but not confirmed parents and grandparents for Robert Little.

I'm not sure how much you want to know, but the above are details we both are convinced are correct, if you want more we will try to help

Regards   Mazi's other half.

Hi Kizziemay,

Thanks for the info on Margaret Jackson. Not mine I am afraid.

I also have loads of Littles - mainly in the Bewcastle area. But again can't find a match.

Good hunting

Hi Isobel
I am researching my husband's family - his Great Great grandparents were Christian Hay Russel and William Armstrong, a surgeon. They married in either Langholm or Staplegorton on 29 May 1815. I believe Christian was the daughter of John Russel and Jean Miller and was baptised in Eskdalemuir on 5 November 1781. Based on the gravestone and 1851 census William was born in 1787 some where in Dumfries.
I am wondering whether you indexes can provide any information to support my findings so far or add to them.
Regards
Jackie

I'm looking for burials of James (he was also called William) Hogg died around 1839 and his wife Helen Jackson Hogg who died around Oct 17, 1860 at Hillback Farm Canonbie.  They had a daughter Helen Hogg (born about 1830) that also might be buried with them.  Thank you so much!!

Please could someone check for a death or deaths of a charles macintosh/mcintosh born 1750 in canonbie and his wife margaret. They married in alston in 1774, and their children were born there, but have found no trace of them in alston. I wondered if theyd been buried in canonbie at all, or grave yard near there. They had a child in around 1789 so any time after that would be a possible for date of death.
thanks
frankie

Request to Moderator;
The original member who made this post has not been on line since October 2007.
Despite that requests for a look-up are still being posted.
Don't you think it is time this thread was locked to prevent that.

As one of the DGFHS volunteers who researched and published many of these booklet I obviously have a vested interest in having this thread locked.
I would add however that I regularly help with the occasional look-up and clarification of queries relating to the D&G area but I can't support the sort of blanket look-up offer implicit in this original post.
