I am sure Nashua has provided people with the information they needed but I have attached a copy of part of the 1881 OS map for Shalbourne which shows St Michaels home which is now a private house. The middle part of this used to be the Red Lion. It would seem that the vicar and his wife who lived opposite the Red Lion found the ale house such a nuisance that they bought it and shut it down!
The Kings Arms was located between the Chapel and the village shop and is now a pottery.
My maternal grandmother was desended from the STOCKWELLS, WATERS. bAKERS and CRAMS amongst others and they were all from very long time Shalbourne families.
Anyone interested in Shallbourne would find Shallbourne to the Millennium a most useful reference book. It is an absolute mine of information of value to the family historian.
Finally I visit the village regularly and if anyone wold like a photograph of a building or whatever let me know.
