Thank you for your efforts Mary
I am puzzled as at present, I have George Scally's father as Thomas and his wife as Catherine Connelly.
Possibly married about 1875-1885

May be very common names you are searching for, IGI shows a Thomas Scally and Catherine Conelly with daughter Mary born 16 Oct.1876 Castlefield dist., Co. Galway, Ireland.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for
some time
many years!

Thanks Mary
I am not sure about this Thomas as they came from Co Galway. No reason why they should not have come from there.
I just looked again at my record of George and Francis. He died in England age 69 in 1966 which would give his birth as 1876. He was a retired civil servant and was buried in Relic cemetery in Kilbeggan. I wonder if you could find his marriage details I guess about 1896 . This might help me back to his father Thomas and confirm the link. Then I could try to obtain Marriage certificate from GRO

IGI has some, not all, Irish births 1864-c1882 but would not have many marriages for that period (has some 1845-1863 and some earlier misc. church marriage records).
Irish marriage certificates will list the fathers' names and occupatins but not the mothers.
