Well done Deb, :D

I am of the mind that the Philip Phillips at 53 Whitechapel Road could well be mine and  John Palmer the Cheesemonger, I have also thought that the two families may have met that way.

If anyone can locate any deaths of Philip Phillips in roughly the right areas, I could check them out at the LMA also if Catherines draws a blank.

Dont think there was anything about 2nd son, Cathayb would be able to tell us that. :D

The biggest problem I have is there are so many Phillip's all with the same christian names and occupations. ::)

My lot all seems to have been involved with the tobacco industry

The book sounds very interesting I would love to read it, I wonder where I could  ??? :D

Information relating to document ref. no. MS 11936/485/980038
Insured: Philip Phillips 53 Whitechapel Road dealer in marine stores
Date: 1821

this is the same road as John Palmer's cheesemonger...he was at 57 whitechapel Rd.

deb

So if we think that is the correct Phillip in Whitechaple rd in 1821  this entry from 1846 could well refer to his son Emanuel - its a very specific occupation

PHILLIPS, Emanuel
marine store dealer  15 Little Coram St Brunswick Sq
P O 1846

If only they were more precise on the census's instead of just putting General Dealer  ::)

I think its a very strong possibility  with both of the names and there are not many Emmanuel's around.
