Hi Pat

still early morning here (7;16am) , coffee time  ;D

just a thought ... what Emmanuel and Susanna decided to marry later in their relationship ....it just seems strange that they would keep on having kids and not get married. I know it used to happen but somehow I keep on thinking that because he was religious ( an assumption  :-\) he would want to make his kids 'legal'.

need more coffee and will resume the hunt .. 8)

when two persons of different denominations marry one party usually has to give up their faith and become the other persons faith, in which case there shoudl eb a record of them being 'taken in' by that church in this case synagouge,

perhaps Emmanuel / Susanna did legally marry but it wasn't recognised by the respective churches / synagouges etc.

WOW!  Google Emmanuel PHILLIPS and this scavenger hunt comes up at least twice!  Just a little factoid to make your day....

I'm not finding them marrying any time between Mar 1838 and Dec 1858 ...

Sorry I'm useless....

The first marriage I find for an Emmanuel PHILLIPS is the same one toni found.

They would have married late enough that it would be a civil registration, if nothing else.

Going the gypsy route, could she have been something other than PALMER at the time of marriage?  Could she have previously married and that is the name under which she married Emmanuel?

None of which makes any sense when the earliest marriage (after Mar 1838) for an Emmanuel PHILLIPS is 1869 ... RATS!
