Where did you get the info that Emmanuel's wife was a Palmer ?

I have Philips birth cert b 1854 Father Emmanuel  Mother Susannah Phillips formerly Palmer and Jacobs (John) in 1859 saying the same.

On Phillips it says father was a General Dealer on Jacobs it says Greengrocer.

These ages both tie up with them on the 1871 Census. where there is also a Catherine, obviously named after the grandmother.

The marriage that I thought might be John is  on th IGI John Phillips to Mary Ann Lamond 16.8.1852 St. Dunstans, Stepney.

Found what might be  them in 1881  RG11/0411/122/73 he is a General Dealer
b Whitechapel

If I could find his marriage it would also help.

added is John's eldest son called philip? that is if he had a son

In 1881 he is 59 and she 49 with one daughter Mary A aged 22 b London, Middx.

Think I need to find these two on earlier census.

I can take a look at thier marriage if it turns out to be correct at the Met Archives.

I also have the death of a Catherine Phillips  Dec 1856 Whitechapel, I might take a punt and send for that, see what it turns up.
