Ah - in 1861, we have:

John aged 39, Coffee Roaster, wife Mary Ann 29 Silk weaver, dau. Mary Ann age 2.

Address prob. 10 East Street Bethnal Green, but it looks as though they are sharing that with William Phillips age 75 Copper Master b. Norfolk, and his wife Charlotte age 72, same birthplace. No.s 8 & 9 are all Phillips family as well, all b. Bethnal Green,: Henry & Ann, with children Ann, Henry, John, Mary Ann, Caroline, Edward, Frederick; then Harriet  & her dau. Harriett - mostly silk weavers.

Not certain now this is the right John... :(

...but re the death of a Catherine 1856 Whitechapel, might be worth giving that a go, as yours was in Whitechapel on the 1851 (and we can't find her on the 1861...not that anyone has turned up on that yet...!) the Death cert. would give the Informant, and that might be family, with luck...

Good Morning All

Sorry Cathay - I wasn't ignoreing you - I had to go last night,  the site I found with the info on idividuals and their proper jewish names etc,  is a very good personal family tree one done by a Jocelyn Keene - it is here

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jbkeene/KeenePhillips/INDEX.HTML

it was the fact that they all lived in the same Swan court at about the same time and had the same surname that caught my eye

I have just found another marriage entry on Free BMD with only 5 names - one of which is Susanna Palmer - what do you think

Marriages Jun 1852
Gibbs  George    London City  1c 167
Palmer  Susannah     London City  1c 167
SMITH  George     London  1c 167
Williams  Ann     London City  1c 167
Williams  Morris     London  1c 167

I have to get some work done today - will be back later

 :)

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

Yes it does look a possibility, the London City marriages I believe are held at the Guildhall Library, so not that easy for me to go and see.

But something rings a bells here in previous searches but cant remember what  ::)

Like you I have to get on, have my breakfast and go out later for a blow  ;D ;D ;D
(shopping) .

I will take a look at that site, later.  :)  thanks.

While I am waiting for my cab. thought this info may be of assitance.

Found on the IGI a birth of Susannah Sarah Palmer  25..4.1927 St Mary Whitechapel, Stepney, London, England. father John mother Susannah  ::)

The actual  entry said.   Living High St, Whitechapel, Father John Palmer a Cheesemonger.

After exhaustive searching I found this on the 1851 which could well be her, as their first child Philip was born in 1853.

HO107/1769/264/24

94 Wood St, St  Walthamstow

Susan Palmer wid. 50 Grocer and C b Middx, shoreditch
Susan Sarah dau 24 un b Whitechapel
John  son son  20 un  Grocer b Middx Sahdwell
George son 10  b Essex, West Ham .

Any thoughts  ???.
