The naming convention goes like this, deb (I don't know if Jews adhered to it or not):

1st son:     Father's father
2nd son:    Mother's father
3rd son:     Father
4th son:     Father's eldest brother
5th son:     Father's second oldest brother or mother's oldest brother

1st dau:     Mother's mother
2nd dau:    Father's mother
3rd dau:     Mother
4th dau:     Mother's eldest sister
5th dau:     Mother's second oldest sister or father's oldest sister

Lord knows what happened with the sixth son or daughter....   ;D

Hi everone,

I have just been going over this thread from the beginning and marking what I need to do at the Met Archives. :)

I keep asking myself, as someone lse did, I cant remember who right now   ::)

Why did Emmanuel and Susan Palmer never marry  :-\ it would seem to buck the trend with his brothers , in as much as we know at the moment.

They were both in the early 20's when Phillips was b in 1854 so I don't see how either could be widowed.

Perhaps we should see if they married later in life, I had not done that .
