1851-1871 Census The Plough, Stewkley. Bucks
« on: Tuesday 11 March 08 08:06 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I don't if it possible to look up a roperty only, but I would really like to see you lived in The Plough (public house) in the 1861 & 1871 census (unsure if possible for 1841 and/or 1851 census, but would be great if available).

Many thanks,

David   :D

ps. I have lived at the Plough for the last 8 years.

Hello,

Actual address is 123 High Street North
Stewkley
LU7 0EX

It was a pub in 1881, and thought it had been backto 1690s.

Thanks,

David

the only pubs named in the 1861 apart from the two i have already said are red lion, cricketers inn, black swan, carpenters arms,
could the name have been changed,
will have a look on the 1881 tomorrow morning for you if no one does so in the meantime.
also do the brewery not have any records that you could have a look at.

Hi David,

Dont know if this helps much but in 1881 at the Plough Inn in High Street

was a Walter James Reeves, his wife Sarah Elizabeth and children Emily and Ellen.

They also had a lodger George Wenman.

I am really surprised that it was not a pub in 1871.

Never mind. I will try to pursue the Brewery, though had no luck when I tried before.

Many thanks,

David

Hi David,

1871 has on the High Road or High Street, the Black Swan, Carpenters Arms, Cricketers Inn, Bull Inn, Rose & Crown, Jolly Dogs, Kings Head, The Swan, but no Plough  :-\

wozzle has given you the 1861 apart from The Bull.

It must have changed its name ?
