A Andrew Smith B about 1814 married Mary Reid in Longhoughton, Northumberland.  Had a son born about 1833 called Joseph.
Joseph came to Australia married Ellen McGrath in 1869 and had two children Mary and Andrew.
Is this family in the 1841 census of that area, Thanks, Annie

Hi Annie,

This is the only Andrew/Mary Smith couple with a son Joseph that I can see in Northumberland, but Andrew's age is way out.

1841
HO107/824/5 13 3
Benwell, Northumberland

Andrew Smith, 35, Husbandman
Mary, 35
Margaret, 15
John, 14
James, 12
William, 10
Joseph, 8
Jane, 3
Robert, 8 mo

All born in county.

Doesn't look right, does it  :-\

Tati that could be him because he was married to Mary Reid on 6/11/1824 and so the age is about right.

Just to complicate things I have found an Andrew Smith on the 1841 census.
HO7/824/1 page 22 at Lesbury near Longhoughton on the A1068 road.
Andrew Smith 25 yrs a Miller,William Smith 15 yrs Miller,Margaret Smith 10 yrs,Thomas Smith 40 yrs Farmer.
So could he be the one born 1814 ish? So over to you Anste.

                                    Bill.

They certainly had a son Joseph, so will check my notes as the age of Andrew was a guess, so could well be the right one,  Annie
