Hello Ken. Here are the two gravestone inscriptions for Stout:-

Erected to the memory of Tamar, wife of John Stout of Garrigill Gate, who died August/16/1824 aged 55 years.
Also the above John Stout, who died October/20/1843 aged 81 years.

Erected in memory of John Stout, who died at Forcegreen January/19/1861 aged 61 years.
And of Betsy his wife, who died at Garrigill May/27/1833 aged 33 years.
Also William their son, who died November/25/1826 aged 5 months.
And of John their son, who died March/17/1859 aged 36 years.
And of Betsy their only daughter and wife of Joseph Bowman, who died September/12/1870 aged 37 years.
Also of Thomas their son, who died May/22/1891 aged 66 years.

I have other threads for gravestone inscriptions although they are mainly in Weardale.
Just use the search bar at the top of the page if you need to find them.

Excellent Adam, thank you very much,
They're all ours, I had all the birth years, but only a few of the deaths.
John Stout 1755-1843, Garrigill Gate, was born Mohope W. Allen, son of John 1716-1766 and Eliz.Lee mar.1740
John jnr's wife was Tamar Cooper 1769-1835, mar. 1789.
John snr was a son of Christopher Stout, West Allen abt 1690-1753 and Ann Liddle, mar 1715.
The other John (Forcegreen) was a son of John & Tamar, 1798-1861. He married 1819 Eliz Armstrong 1800-1833. Issue: John 1823-59, Thomas 1824-1891 William b/d 1826, Eliz 1832-1870. The first son was George 1820, don't know his fate. Jos. Bowman is new to me.
John 1716 had a brother William 1717-1770, who is my ancestor. His line returned to the West Allen.
Thanks again,
Ken

Hello Paul. Glad it was of some help. I have another 23 graveyards and Cemeteries indexed but they are mostly in Weardale.  You are welcome to any information from them if you have family from that area.

Adam

Hi Adam,

You mentioned the name Gibson in your initial list, and I don't think anyone has asked for this yet. I'd be very interested to know the details of that one.

On your Weardale travels, I don't suppose you've encountered any Garside stones - most likely in a graveyard in the Walkergate/Wackergate or Stanhope area?

Many thanks

Paul
