Hi Little Annie
In a book I have there is a short verse which read
The Swilly
There's a railway in Derry, the Swilly you know
That is famed for going exceedingly slow
It leaves Londonderry about ten minutes late
And if they don't watch, it may run through the gate
In five minutes more, a whistle is heard
And old Lizzie Harkin is getting prepared
Proceeding along, and turning a bend
The train shortly reaches that station Bridge End
At the next stop, a man in a navy-cut suit
Calls out that the train has arrived at Burnfoot.
In brackets below this it says
(Lizzie Harkin was the crossing-keeper at Galliagh Road)
Just wonder if this Lizzie is yours.
