Hi Kerryb

Thank you for all that... thats wonderful....

Her son was called William James Johns born ? Dec 1872.

She appears at some point to have married a Charles Salter who was 20 yrs older than her.

Caroge

I've just had a look at the IGI as stated by ChasH

It seems that John and Jane had their children baptised on 05 OCT 1865, at Temple, Bristol together.

If you want to have a look.  Click on the link from Chas, then choose Gloucester A-M, pick B for Bristol.  Just click on any one of the blue highlights for Bristol to bring up search page, then I copied and pasted Chas's link for Temple and then search on Johns.

Do you have the date of marriage between Sarah and Charles Salter, I searched last night but couldn't find them together.

In fact one can choose any county, any place and any batch, enter the name, change the batch number to the one one wants and submit;  but one must bear in mind that the extractions (from church records) may contain errors and some of the original extractions have most likely been deleted.

The data is also to be found in the IGI via the LDS site but will be mixed with potential fairy tales called submitted entries and data from many places.  Once upon a time, a submitted entry might have been in an extracted batch but there's no way of finding out so all must be suspect.

Regards

Chas

Thank you Kerry
I can't find their marriage either. It could be a transcription error I suppose. But Sarah and Charles went on to have more children when they were together. Is there another way to find marriages ?
Thanks so much for your help
Carrie

Thank you for your help Chas. I only stumbled on the fact that Sarah had called her son William Salter when she was married to Charles Salter and that William had reverted to his birth name of Johns by 1891....by chance. The fact that he was called William Salter in 1881 census really through me off and I couldn't find him for ages.
