what software do you clever people use to restore & colour??
i would love to have a go!!

Hi Chris 

Personally I use Photoshop 7 and sometimes Photoshop CS2, but others prefer elements.  I have not used that myself  but restorers on here get brilliant results with it.  I prefer colouring with layers, which is why I love photoshop.  It is a very individual choice I think.  I believe there are a few free trials you can download, but others will know more about them than me.  Whatever you decide to try, someone on here will be able to help you to get the best from it, we all use lots of different programs, and we all like to help out.

Good luck with it, and enjoy yourself, remember, if it isn't fun it's work!!........

I use
Elements 6 or CS2
Elements is about 80% the same as the full photoshop program, CS3 is the latest but very expensive! Elements is very much cheaper.

There are only a couple fo things you can't do with Elements but as a beginner or an intermediate level - you might not even notice the difference apart from the layout is different  

I would suggest you look on E*ay for Elements, its quite reasonable on there.

A few people also use Paintshop Pro,  you can get good results from it, but it takes a little bit of getting used to.

and if you Google either of the two programs you will find lots of advice on them.

Dai, i have downloaded the free trial of Paintshop Pro x2, i have been having a mess around with it, think i'll leave it till tomorrow now, it's getting late!!
it's a 30 day trial, i'll probably just get the hang of it and the trial will be up!!!!

Go for the cheaper software like Elements (I'm still using Version 4).  There is a free trial with that too.  It's easy to use and it contains everything you need and as I've always said, it's not the software...it's what you do with it that counts.

Hi Chris,
like Caz has said Photoshop Elements 6 seems more popular and there is lots of help on here (but at the moment is a bit more expensive on Amazon), but i would try both of them and get the one you like best.
