If anyone else would like a Marriage or baptism look up for the Congregation of this church. It is only a door to door bus ride away ;D So i am happy to help if need be.

Hi Celia,

Are these records in your local Family History Centre? I wonder if they were ordered by a family living in your neighbourhood so that they could check on their Co. Down ancestors.  Click here for a list of microfilmed records held by the FHC at Hyde Park.

Hi Christopher
yes i have seen the holdings of the F.H.C.because i wanted to know if members using the Irish board could ask for lookups in this church. If anyone could do look ups i wasn't going to mention it, i didn't find anyone that could,so i did ;D As to the whys and wherefores. Of the reason it is on film i don't know.(I have never been to a F.H.C.) I am just offering a look up :) As its a bit off topic i will P.M. later.

Dear Celia
I am a novice at tracing my ancestors, but i was wondering if you had any info on my Gt.Grandmother Isabella Craney. She was from Co.Down and I know she married my Gt Grandfather Daniel Gilbride in 1875 in Killyleagh R.C.Church. I am trying to find her mother and fathers names.
Any info would be much appreciated.

Best Regards

As the Irish board isn't my home board, i don't know anything about Irish research. As Otto said and i found, the church is Presbyterian. So if the R.C stands for Roman Catholic your G.Grandmother wont be there.Christopher will probably give you some advice if they were.

As I have said above the church is Presbyterian
is that right for your ancestors. The start year for when any children might have been baptized, would be handy to know so i find them quicker ;).would they have been married in the same church/or do you have that?

If you order the marriage certificate from GRONI in Belfast, the details of her father and other info should be on it also.

Hello Celia, in reply to your query about someone holding the records if you transcribed them.

I'm sure Ros Davies would love to have them.  She has a wonderful website devoted to Co. Down & welcomes all information relevant to the County.  Here's a link to her site with her e-mail near the top right. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rosdavies/PHOTOSwords/KillyleaghAll.htm

If for some reason Ros cannot help, contact me & I'll see what I can do.  Regards, TonyR.
