Are you still taking requests for baptism/marriage info from the First Presbyterian Church in Killyleagh? The Irish side of my family came from this area and I believe many of them were Presbyterians.

If you can help, I would be interested in any information regarding any or all of the following individuals:

William Gilmore (born 1836)
Joseph Gilmore (father of William)
_____ Gilmore (mother of William)
Margaret McDowell (born 1842)
Robert McDowell (father of Margaret)
_____ McDowell (mother of Margaret)

Thanks very much for your efforts! But, alas, I don't think the records you found have any relation to the relatives I'm searching for. No need to look at later dates. I'm pretty sure what I'm looking for took place in the late 1830s-early 1840s.

Not sure what you meant when you said that you didn't want to offend, but be assured I have taken no offense at anything and just really appreciate all your efforts and willingness to help me!

Any ideas where to look for further info on the Gilmores/McDowells would be greatly appreciated.

Actually the mail i sent is called a P.M A P.M is for the exchange of emails so that things can be sent direct.That you cant send, on say, a look up board.They are not really for the use of replying to a topic,it messes the info up, so you did right

I visited that page the other day and got some very useful info. They had the marriage date for my gg grandfather and gg grandmother (William Gilmore and Margaret Gerch McDowell, m. 26 Dec 1862) as well as the birthday of my great grandmother (Pendelina Gilmore, b.30 Jun 1868). So got some great stuff there and it got me started with that side of my family. But now I need to take the next step and I'm kind of at a loss...

Hello Celia, if you are still offering look-ups, could you check the following for me please?

I have my Johnston family in England from 1891 onwards & the 1911 census lists that they had another 5 children I was not aware of.  These 5 must have all died back in Ireland as they are not in the family grave over here.  As one of the surviving children was baptised at 2nd Presbyterian in Killyleagh, it’s just possible that some of the others may also have been baptised there.  Here are the details:

Parents – James Johnston & Mary Smyth (married in Killinchy Presbyterian 1879)

Surviving children –
William Johnston born 25 April 1880 High Street, Comber - baptism not found
Bella Johnston born 1 February 1883 Ballymorran - baptism not found
James Johnston born 1 May 1885 Tullycore - baptism not found
Samuel John Johnston born 31 May 1889 Ballygeegan - Baptised 4th August 1889 in Killyleagh

From Birth Indexes – these are the only potential births that I can find which have corresponding death entries and which ‘fit’ in-between the known births.

Obviously not all the above births are the children of James Johnston & Mary Smyth, but hopefully one or more might be.  So anything you can find will be gratefully accepted.  Particularly interested in families address & James senior’s occupation, if it is recorded.  I suppose it’s also possible that Bella & James junior may have been baptised in Killyleagh as well, but probably too much to hope for.  Regards, TonyR.
