ummmm ...I don't know why I thought that Henry's dad had to have died before 1841 .... he could have been alive up until the 1851 census as we have not found henry and Charlotte in 1841 yet  .... I am not thinking straight ..need more coffee


Cathay ... I wonder why Henry changed his name and place of birth during the 1870's .... Birch to Birchon  and Exeter to Jersey... someone found his birth under Birchon earlier in this thread . amended ...can't find it maybe I dreamt it

early dates for robert birch are in andover hampshire.henry 1839 is plymouth and exeter devon hughes lot are somerset/devon.but in all honesty they coulkd be anywhere in the south west.they also liked gloucester/dorset/surrey/wiltshire.so who knows.gypsies are a law unto themselves.cathayb

yep he appears on his marriage certs death cert and in different cencus s as all sorts.we have proved him to be a big fibber.he had his second wife pregnant while his 1st wife was in the workhouse dying.he was not a nice man.he also put his family in the workhouse in a later cencus and went off to live with another woman again!!we only know through his kids names and ages and certs.he appears using the names birch/birchon/burch/berch and anymore you may find.first he could nt write then he couldnt.between cencus he may have travelled to channel islans gypsies from plymouth did for trade.but he definately was not born in channel islands.cathayb   hi john,speak to you soon.we are on the hard one now.henry 1839.the pig excuse french!!!i am going for tea break now.i expect you will all have found him when i get back!!!!!!!!

Caroline Hughes b c 1843 d/o Robert and sarah ...where was she born ... ?

i am trying to find Robert's marriage to sarah ...but I have no idea what area ... Sarah was born Glos. and Robert was born Devon ...hopefully Caroline's POB will give us a starting point .

personally i dont think they registered any one,thats why i am tearing my hair out.i looked at the marriage for william and charlotte,i dont think thats them but the spelling of charlotte is interesting.may try putting that in somewhere and see what i get  cathayb
