The James Birch in 1881, a marine store dealer, seems to have been a publican in 1871 and 1861, at the Pelican and the "Tumbledown Dick" , nice name!!

"Highwayman Dick Turpin (1706-1739) & The Tumbledown Dick
The "Tumbledown Dick" public house is known to be linked with many famous people including Richard Cromwell, son of Oliver. However, it is also renowned by some as the local hostelry associated with the famous highwayman Dick Turpin. There is a bedroom in the inn which was known as "Dick Turpin's room" and it is said that he slept there on more than one occasion.
Farnborough is party to many tales and traditions connected with old-fashioned England. The village was ideal for highwaymen like Turpin with its wild heaths, dark commons and extensive woods. Turpin has been known as butcher's apprentice, cattle-lifter, smuggler, highwayman and thief. It is said that he has a headquarters nearby."
Taken from Rushmoor Borough Council website, theres also a good photo of the Inn on another website
