Hi Sparky

Have you found her on a census at all - or did she die before 1841?

Hi Trish,
Thank you 4 replying.  Alice was marr to William lilley or lilly she is on the 1841 and each census until 1871. She died in 1874. her marr took place at Etton Northants, that didnt tell me a lot. 1851 onwards tell me she was born at Castor Northants. If I cant get her b. her baptism would be handy

I fear replying may be all I can do! The census information is useful to confirm birth location.
But then again - I started looking at the LDS library to see what records they had for Castor - they often have many records not transcribed on the IGI - I discovered that the IGI information was from parish records - rather than BTs which often have records missing. The good site of hugh Wallis
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm#Menu
gives the batch number for births  - P016811 and using that batch searched for Alice (no surname) and found this one

ALICE CULPIN Christening:  28 DEC 1794   Castor, Northampton, England
Father:  WM. CULPIN  Mother:  MARY

It is an extracted IGI record - what do you think?

Trish

Edit: There are some siblings in the batch as well - sadly it stops at 1800 - there are probably more.

Hi Trish,
This seems like a good bet as throughout her life she didnt seem to know her age. On the1841 census it gave her age as 35. On the 1851 it gives her age as 56. I couldnt find her on the IGI. ? You cant follow on from that can you been searching for ages.
Thanks for what you have done up to now

I'm slightly confused as to what else you want. If you go back to the IGI and search for Culpin as well as Culping you may find more of the family. The baptism is right for the age in 1851 - the 1841 ages are rounded DOWN to the nearest 5 years, but she probably should have been listed as 40. Perhaps she had lied to her husband about her age?

good luck with them

Trish
