Inch Kirk Bell Re: MI's for Churchyard at Inch
« Reply #90 on: Sunday 12 December 10 11:08 GMT (UK) »
Some further things about Inch - that may help other people.
I found a list of subscribers to a new bell at Inch Kirk, in the Kirk Session records. A transcription is online on my website, at http://wyrdswell.co.uk/ancestors/Additional/Inch%20bell%20subscription%20list.pdf. I'd guessed it was mid 18th century - and have since been able to date this bell subscription more precisely to 1760. It gives a 'snapshot' of the parish then.

Also, much of what I've found about my Inch people is at http://wyrdswell.co.uk/ancestors/Additional/Blain2.html - hopefully this may be of use to some others.

All best, and many thanks for much help!
Jenny

Hi Terry,
I wonder if you could possibly assist with any Costley's, Little's or Paterson's in the New Luce or Inch burial grounds?  I'm trying to research from South Africa and know that my grandparents and great grandparents are buried there but can't find anything online.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
Kind regards,
Louise

Try the Inch Connection Museum.  I had great results from there recently.  Should be able to find on "Google".

Cheers

Thanks for looking, Terry. These things are all long shots as very few people in the 18th century had MIs.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Here's wishing you a good festive season!  :)

Hi Terry,  I`ve got some relatives who were from Inch, not sure if they stayed/died there or not, apart from this first couple. I`d be grateful if you`d see if you have anything on them. The timescale would be from about 1790 through the 1800s.

James McKenzie died 23/10/1866 age about 89 I think & wife Mary Beggs (she died before 1851)

Thomas Beggs & Grisal Drynan

John McDowall & Ann Beggs

Charles Murray & Janet Beggs

David Main or Mein & Grisal Beggs

Thanks. Linda

Very quick look, there are 8 Beggs MI's, James & Mary are there. I'm off to work soon, will have a proper look and post when I get home this afternoon.

Hi Linda,

Erected by James McKinzie Cairnryan IMO his wife Mary Beggs who died 13th June 1847 aged 73 Years. Also his son James who died 1st January 1840 aged 28 years. Niven McKinzie born 12th Jany 1803, died 7th August 1852. Thomas McKinzie born 22nd Sept 1799, died 17th Jany 1854. William McKinzie born 2nd April 1801, died 25th Feby 1863. JamesMcKinzie born 8th Jany 1767, died 23 Octr 1866.

None of the other Beggs MI's match up with any of the others you gave. There were 2 Charles Murrays but neither married to a Janet Begg.

Hope this helps.
