Help please with a marriage certif.....
« on: Friday 29 February 08 21:14 GMT (UK) »
I hope I am on the correct site.

I am trying to locate marriage certificates for a Winifred Hilda Trowman.
She was born  July 1915. at Stourbridge..

Her 1st marriage was to a Mr. Boocock (Bocock) last lasted only a few short  years.
Her second marriage was to a William Anderson. I think on both occasions she was married in Yorkshire.
I hope some one can help me please.
Thank you for reading this.
Shirlann.

Hi

If she was only born in 1915, she would not have married until the 1930's and for that period and beyond  you will need to search the full GRO index  which is available at your nearest main library if you live in the UK.  It can also be searched online if you have an Ancestry subscription or at www.findmypast.com which is a paysite

Hi Shirlann,

This Percy Boocock sounds from the dates and the short first marriage to probably be my step-father.   I have kept documents that related to his first marriage, which I found after he passed away.  I can not recall what I have exactly.  I think it is a divorce record and there is reference to a child of this first marriage or perhaps an adoption record - I can not remember which just now.  Please get in touch with me if these are relevant to your search.

Allan

Yes he lived in Brighouse.

Can you list what information you want for your family history research about Percy Boocock, I will find what I have.  I certainly recall his siblings, and parents.

I have not used this forum before so I don't know how it works.  I am wondering how I would be able to forward copies of documents to you while maintaining their and your privacy.   Or maybe you just want limited information off them - to confirm dates and places for example.  Please let me know.

I am not myself willing to put copies of private records in a public space or in the public domain by posting them openly to a web site, because the rights and use can not then remain private to the owners of the information.  Hate the thought of google scanning them and reselling the geneologies back to us all.   More importantly in this case for example the son if he still were alive would be affected and should in my view be given prior informed choice about the privacy and any public use.

On the other hand I would be a happy to chat about Percy Boocock - the kind of person he was in my experience and so forth, because that would be my experience that I would be describing.  I myself did family history research for a number of years about 20 years ago and found it very interesting.

Hi allanw and welcome to rootschat
You are quite correct in your assumption that details of living people are not encouraged on rootschat and are removed when we come across them.  Our personal message system works by clicking the green scroll under a name and then writing your own message which cannot be seen by others.
The guidelines for posting on Rootschat are here
