Australia archives recordsearch shows that both George Thomas Forfar b. 1922 and Douglas Maitland Forfar b. 1920 served in WWII.

Well, thank you both so much for the information.  From your info Raylen, I have now found their cremation dates at Fawkner Crematorium including one for a Gloria Forfar who possibly was George jnr's wife.

Thanks also for your info jorose, after fumbling my way around (not very good searching the net) found the military records for Douglas and George plus sister Dorothy.  Bonus here was that full names were given also Douglas's record had been digitalised so have a complete copy of his enlistment papers.

As usual one thing leads to another.  Two more queries if anyone can help please.

Is there anywhere I can look for marriages, probably 1940's +?

Douglas Maitland Forfar enlisted in August 1938 and discharged in February 1939 with comments 'R.O. 39 - Exel (or excl) in R.A.G.A. - any ideas please?

Many many thanks, far more todate than I imagined - Valry

Hi Valry,

The last Victorian Marriages Index goes to 1942, and no Forfars appear in it, I'm afraid.

Thanks ..dee, appreciate your comments.

Thanks Raylen, is '2/5 Aust. Gen Hosp' part of her service details, if so could it mean she was discharged to Hospital?  Sorry to keep on - Valry
