Swansea library re-opening

The new Swansea library in County Hall opens on March 19th.

It will be open 6 days a week and has a 40 seater cafe with views of the bay.

The library is on 2 floors  - ground floor houses fiction, music and film and the 1st floor has non-fiction and reference.

Opening hours;

Monday - closed all day

Tuesday to Friday 8.30am to 8pm.

Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

If anyone wants newspaper look-ups after that I'm available.  ;D

Hi Tawe,

I can only help if you have managed to narrow the date down  - as I said, it's really not possible to search a few years of papers. It would take up too much time.

You said it happened in London and was reported in the "News of the World" - have you got any further with that?

Maybe someone on the London board can help if you put a request on there?

Why not try Neath Library while Swansea is closed.  It's just reopened after a refurbishment - reeeeaaaalllly nice! ;D

I work for the council at Swansea and we were given a chance for a peep at the new library in our lunch hours - a 20 minute tour. About 25 staff attended the first tour (there was one other).

I had a quick look at the research area and if you get a chance to visit there's a good chance you'll be playing marbles with your eyeballs - after they've dropped on the floor, that is. Only a peek but it looked fantastic! Lot's more 'research' type stuff just on the shelves for you to get hold of. The old library had a certain charm (no loos, buckets to catch the rain drips etc.) but I came to love it. The new one is simply jaw dropping...I'll love that even more! SEE IT IF YOU CAN!

You lucky thing you!

I loved the old library too - I have been moaning about it closing although I know it had to really.

I'll be going down to the new one on opening day.

How many readers have they got for newspapers, and are they the same system as before? They did say they might have IT based ones in the new library.

Can't wait!
