You would think with him being the postmaster there would be info on National archives as well ...I think the name has been mistranscribed EVERYWHERE.... it could be Nearne for all we know ... I have even tried ..Joseph , Postmaster , Thorpe ....nada .

Su, Joseph HEARNE is listed as Post Master only on the 1851 census.  He is 61 and from Thorpe, Norfolk. 

Lucy, Eliza, William, and Emily are with him.

Found Eliza living in the Almshouses in the High Street Age 83.

Just looking througha few older trade directories any port in a storm!

Joseph HEARNE is listed in the 1858 Melville and Co. Directory of Kent under Traders, page 386, as hack master.

Just for note there is a very grand house called Quebec House/Squerrys Court - I think they are the same place? (Brain function ceasing!)
