hi my gggg grans surname was either goztello or costello apparently greek origin,can anyone help me with this surname from ireland please

Between 1855-1860 there are 17 births mainly in the Glasgow area

perhaps my gggg gran came from glasgow,my mother says we have greek roots and i thought that perhaps that is where the name came to ireland from, my romany heritage ?

Hi  this is the information i have found in the paisley marriages.  catharine goztello or costello married owen horan at least i think it says owen i got this from the wedding cerificate of margaret horan and peter marren 1897 and was 22 when she married usual place of residence west dykebarr paisley.peter lived at 2 duke street paisley.

I think this might be Peter and Margaret in 1901 with the surname mis-transcribed:

Margaret Maxton 26, b. Ireland

Catherine Maxton 2, b. Paisley

I think someone has been researching this line already Katrina     Also from IGI:

Catherine Costello  Birth: About 1842  Of Cloonmine,Coontia, Lowpark, Mayo, Ireland
Marriages: Spouse: John Horan    Marriage:  About 1864  Of Cloonmine,Coontia, Lowpark, Mayo, Ireland

Whether father/husband's name was John or Owen, not sure at this stage how you would verify.
