Well here's all mentions of Peter Francis Hart in family notices in SMH but I can't see that 1900 marriage announcement.  Still looking ...

Perhaps this is his arrival:
Assisted passage
Peter HART, 19, labourer, native place: Antrim, can read and write, Roman Catholic
On the Palmyra arr 27 May 1859

No other HART listed on that voyage.

Just for your interest, Berrima (where the marriage was registered) is a lovely old (for us here in Oz) village with many buildings from the 1830s-1850s.  http://www.berrimavillage.com.au/

Hi Ros,
would appreciate that.  There was some confusion because in the sydney biographes of their aldermen, they mention a possible marriage between Peter senior and Mary Jane Smith but it wasn't confirmed.  I looked it up on the NSW BDM and they have a marriage between Peter and Mary listed but it ddn't give all the details.  I was just hoping someone has more info or had free access to those records

Sorry didn't see the rest of the replies there.
Thanks everyone for the info.
Ros you have definately solved the mystery, Mary jane must have been married to the Peter the son, because Peter the alderman died in 1917.  Does the JP stand for justice of the peace or do you think thats suppossed to be JR?
Just wish i had the money to visit Sydney there seems to be lots of terrific places to visit that are connected with my family.
Thanks again!
