Peter Francis HART
« on: Monday 25 February 08 11:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,
I would really appreciate if someone with access to free info could look stuff up for me.  I'm from belfast and discovered i have a number of relatives who moved to Sydney australia around late 1850s early 1860s  I know one of them peter francis hart was an alderman in the Sydney council in the 1870s and 1880s and was a property developer.  I also know he had a brother (don't know name) who moved from belfast with him.  Both would have born late 1830s and early 1840s and both would have been in the carpentry building trade.

Hi,

I found a mention of Peter Hart on the following website:

http://www.therocks.com/sydney-Discover-Heritage_History-The_Port_City.htm  He's mentioned near the bottom of the page.

The Rocks was the first area in Sydney to be settled. For a while it was a real rough area.  The area was to be demolished in the 1970s, but a ban by the Builders Labourers Federation preserved the area. It is now a fantastic place to visit with heaps of great pubs, restaurants, cafes, art gallerys and shops.

I just had a re-read of the article. I know Hart's Pub, though I haven't been in there.  If I get a chance in the next few days, I'll go take a photo for you.

Could some kind person look some info up for me if they have access.  Mary Jane Smyth married Peter francis hart in Sydney in 1900.  But im not sure if she married Peter F Hart Jr born in 1867 or his dad Peter Francis Hart born Belfast 1840. i just need details of the grooms age and father and mother, that will solve a big mystery for me.
