Howarth family Sherburn or Sherburn Hill Durham
« on: Monday 25 February 08 09:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm trying to trace a Howarth family, believed to have lived around the Sherburn Hill area of Durham... around 1920.  Particularly a Bill Howarth.
As this is post available census's i am having difficulty finding this person or his family.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Ed.

Hi
Electoral rolls might be the answer but if you are not near enough to get to the local record office then that may be a problem.  Street Directories?    Genuki may have some online but possibly not in the 1900s.  Have you any idea of Bill's age or when he died?
Andrea

Hi,

Thanks.  I would have trouble getting to record office as i'm living in Surrey at the moment, however when i'm back in the north east i'll make an effort to call in there.

I have no idea when Bill would have died however, or indeed where he would be living at the time of his death.

Ed.

There was a lad working at Durham City main post office called Howarth, probably as a telegram boy about 1955 he would have been born c1940. GPO may be able to help, he used to attend day release school at Jesmond.NEWCASTLE at this time
