Hi all,
some of you may know that I recently went to a workshop called ' Writing a Non Boring Family History", which is based on a book written by Hazel Edwards.

Hazel has kindly offered to leave some books with me, in case some of those coming to the Meet might be interested in buying them.  They are reasonable priced and having read her book can verify it is worth it.

The books are:
 - Writing a non boring family history $20.
 - Non boring travel writing $20.
 - The business of writing for Young people $10.
 - How to get your book off the ground $10.

she does have other books but I chose this selection as I felt they were more apropriate to our needs.

We almost had her for a free talk but unfortunately she will be away on the 19th.

hoping this idea is to your liking.  ;D

Now Margaret,
That is good imaginative thinking, and fast thinking too.  Karon and I are so looking forward to the day in Melbourne.

I am hoping to get another roots person in to the meet and so far as I know she lives on  the east side of Melbourne.  Her Roots name is kayec, not that she is on/in roots often.  However she is my 7th cousin found via one of my Roots messages, and we are related way back to about my GGGGgrandmother.

Any way.. thank you for the updates.

That's a top idea, Margaret!   ;D ;D

I really liked the notes you took at the workshop, and I would love to look through the books and hopefully buy one!  (Writing a Non-boring Family History appeals!)

Great Marie,
I am sure the books will be a hit - it is inspiring to get all that documentation into some readable form ;D ;D
. . . and thats the hard part.

I have been playing with my Simpson lines and in doing so have learnt a lot about the overlanders and squatters, and to think I hated history at school.  :o

Well, I've always been a keen historian - but it brings it to life so much more when you start trying to understand the social and economic situations in which your ancestors lived!!   ;D

Hi again Margaret,
I did speak to, sent a PM via RootsChat and emailed KayeC on Wed 16th inst.

She can see no reason why she shouldn't or couldn't come to the meeting.  We are staying at her place so will bring her with us if she comes along.  I have given her the link to this thread and the reply # where you ask for the item for the surprise.

Thank you for keeping us up to date :)
