WWII casualties from Blaina and Risca
« on: Sunday 24 February 08 21:34 GMT (UK) »
Hello good people of Rootschat

Can anyone help with any information on the families of two RAF airmen who died in 1944;

JONES, HARRY  Flying Officer (Pilot) 550 Sqdn.
Age:23 (b. c1921) Date of Death:29/07/1944 Service No:176650
Son of William and Mary Jane Jones, of Risca, Monmouthshire.
WILLIAMS, IDWAL Sergeant (Air Gnr.) 550 Sqdn
Age:21 (b. c1923) Date of Death:29/07/1944 Service No:1652120
Son of Henry Morgan Williams and Alice Williams of Blaina, Monmouthshire.

The deaths of these men are to be commemorated by the people of the area of France where their Lancaster bomber crashed and I have been asked to help to trace any relatives.

Any help will be much appreciated.

thanks, Mike Wright

Thanks all for the help so far.

I have also enlisted the help of the SW Argus newspaper, so with a bit of luck I'll hear from some relatives before the commemoration in May.
