Layfield Birth lookup, Lancashire

I did a search on Ancestry.com the other night -- Free BMD, 1837-1983 and came up with the birth of a Charles Allan Layfield, b. 1898, Jan/Feb/Mar Qtr, in West Derby, Lancashire.. the reference given was vol 8b, pg 508.  I need to figure out who the parents of Charles Allan Layfield were, and any other information that might be available in the record.   Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide....

On the 1901 there is a Charles A Layfield living in Waterloo of that age..

35 Lawton Rd. Waterloo.

Thomas H Layfield(H) 27 Ships Engineer.    b.Lancs,Liverpool
Emma J   " (wife)  25                                 b.Lancs,Bootle.
Charles A.....(son) 3                                   b.Lancs,Waterloo.
William R....(son) 1                                     b.  "     "          "

Waterloo registration would after 1894 been in West Derby....
