Maria Hirst possibly Cudworth nr Barnsley
« on: Saturday 23 February 08 10:31 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for Maria Hirst or Hurst 1824 possibly from Cudworth area nr Barnsley. And married to Charles Simpson 1823 Need to know her parents or even further back, also any brothers or sisters. I think she had a brother called Robert approx 1835, who later lived in Higham.
Any help much appreciated.
Percy Featherstone.

Hi Percy,

You don't say if you have any census details. All later census for this couple give her birthplace as Havercroft.  Do you have the marriage certificate giving her father's name and occupation to help find her in 1841?
Is this the couple in 1851?

I presume this is the marriage -

Charles Simpson Sept 1847 Ecclesfield Vol 22 Page 107
Bride - Maria Hurst (+ 3 other brides/grooms listed)

Cant see any obvious candidates for Maria, could this be her?

You're going to need the marriage cert I think, Percy, for father's name and occupation

Thank you Valda,   All these you have given me seems to tally.
The list with the name Hinst are correct but they have mistakenly used the letter "n" instead of "r"  in Hirst.
Best Regards
Percy
