I realized I was looking at the wrong column for the informant!  Still isn't the wife but at least I can read the handwriting - K. McLean, undertaker conducting funeral, Sale.  The illegible one was the registrar.

The age at marriage looks like 57yrs.  I've attached a snippet of the marriage details.  Whoever filled in the death register numbered the entries in each category so the number before his age is the number 2 in brackets.

I am almost certain this is the right Henry.  The parent details are correct on the death cert, including the father's occupation of weaver.  On the convict papers, there was a list of the family that included the father and all of Henry's siblings except his mother who died three years before he was convicted.
Malandain/Mallandain/Mallandaine/Malllindine - anywhere and everywhere
Corson/Causon - Gloucestershire
Nicholas - Pembrokeshire
Clark - Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire

I find it annoying when undertakers put their own name as the informant. When my folks died the funeral directors organised the death certificates, but put my father as the informant for my mother (as he supplied the information) & my sister for my father's death - as it should be.

The undertaker here, obviously got the information from someone & it would have been nice to know who!

The age certainly looks like 57, so if he did marry previously (as it may be from the Tas records) the "real" informant was not going to mention it (or did not know). Could have increased his age so he is not so much younger than his wife  :)

It does seem to be the right person, so the mystery may simply be the name of Jane & her previous marriages, if any. Do let us know if you solve this mystery  :) Sorry that we didn't find any descendants

Hi Lynwen

Indigo in Victoria is a real place.  It is around 15 km west of Wodonga and was featured in the gold rush days when gold was discovered there in 1858.  Some of my ancestors lived there for a short time.
