Hi can anyone help me with this one? I am trying to trace an american soldier who was stationed in Dorset during WW2. All I have is a name. Do any of you know of any sites that would be of help?

There are some enlistment records at:
http://aad.archives.gov/aad/
hints: set the name field to 'exact phrase' and enter the name like: Smith#John
Also you could try the VA national gravesite locator:
http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/j2ee/servlet/NGL_v1
http://www.keepmilitarymuseum.org/homefront/ta_bases.php
Here's a list of American bases in Dorset with which regiments etc. were there.
