Hi! Re parentage of Thomas Falconer, husband of Helen Simpson. My line comes from their Grizel. Through DNA, I've discovered Thomas was married previously to Margaret Barty in 1780.  They had at least 2 children, Elizabeth and Alexander. This would discount 1769 as dob.

For those interested: Donald aka Daniel 1784-1879, spouse of Grizel aka Grace Falconer 1792-1867 was the son of William and Margaret Stewart, according to his death certificate on ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk
