If any of your ancestors served in the 9th Battalion of the Manchester Regiment you may be interested in the website that is being developed by Linda Corbett
at  www.ashtonpals.fusiveweb.co.uk

You can contribute any memorabilia to the websiet or look up the names of your ancestor(s).

Hi,
I thought I had best post the new link to my Ashtonpals website as I changed my website provider some time ago.

There are many new additions to my website, including new war grave photos, surname & dates for enlistments, discharges and entry into the theatre of war. Silver War Badge list, obituaries and newspaper articles.

THE ASHTON TERRITORIALS, 9th BATTALION OF THE MANCHESTER REGIMENT.

Best regards,

Hey Annie!  - hope you are keeping well.

I am still busy documenting the brave men and boys who served in the 9th Battalion, Manchester Regiment during the Great War.

I have just returned from a trip to France & Flanders where I visited and photographed many of the 9th battalion graves. Since I have been working on this project for about four years, the names and in some cases even the faces of the men and boys who served in the 9th Battalion are very familiar to me. It was a very moving experience to be stood by their gravesides. Gorre British & Indian Cemetery was especially moving, as many in there were comrades in the 2/9th Battalion and they are buried side by side. Such a sad sight.

Lest we forget.

Lin.
