Hello,
Can anyone help? I am looking for maybe the marriage of Francis Joyce jnr. to Rebecca ?  or the family of Joyce with Francis Joyce at the head and a son also called Francis. I can find them in the 1871,1881 and1891 census returns in Wapping,London and I gather from the info they originate from Ireland. I would be grateful for any information from the past.

There's amarriage on'Free BMD' for Francis Joyce and Rebecca Ann Branch in the September quarter 1872 in Poplar London.
On the 1881 census Francis and Rebecca  Joyce have Rebecca Branch mother in law age 77 living with them - she is a widow. Also Charles Branch- brother in law to Francis. So Rebecca's(jnr)maiden name looks as if it was Branch.

On the 1871 census Francis jnr is living with his father Francis who is a widow.The two oldest children were born in Ireland so Francis senior was probably married there.Alfred and Edward were born in Wapping so the birth certificate for either of them should give their mother's maiden name(Francis senior's wife).
If you found her name then perhaps you could look for her death between 1861-1871 after her last child was born and before the 1871 census-or maybe she died in Ireland after the birth of Thomas.

You might not find the Joyce family on the 1861 census as the youngest son Thomas was born in Ireland around 1861 so they might have been away for the census.

Rebecca states she was born in Wapping - on the 1851 and 1861 census there's a
Rebecca Branch born in Wapping with parents Rebecca and Jacob(born Germany).

Hello John, i've just come across your posting regarding the Pearl family from Suffolk. We have a Harriet Pearl, born 1827 in the hamlet of Sicklesmere, Great Whelnetham, Suffolk, died 1882.
We have her parents as being Henry Pearl born 1808 at Chelsworth, Suffolk, which is a little south east of Sicklesmere and Elizabeth Richardson, born c.1811 at Thurston, Suffolk.
Harriet Pearl was married to my G.G.Grandfather Abraham Julian Sharp and therefore my G.G.Grandmother.
Because of the Sicklesmere connection i believe it may be the same Pearl family. While we have lots of information on the Sharps we have very little on the Pearls and would be very interested in sharing any relevant information with you.

Jerper- just to let you know that the first complete census for all Ireland is 1901. Only small fragments from earlier years survive for a few places.
For County Cork it seems only a bit of 1851 still exists: parishes of Kilcrumper (partial), Kilworth, Leitrim (partial), Macrony (partial).
