Does the library have records going back to 1827?

Looking for the marriage of George Wilson & Sarah Taylor married on January 5, 1827 in Manchester Cathedral.  I would like to know if the record will give me the bridesgroom's birth location or county and maybe his father's name.

Yes these records are kept at Manchester although the earlier marriages do not have the father's name.
I am not sure when they started to include this info  but will look for you next week.

Hi Aud,
I have read your info re Manchester Cathedral marriages.
My gggrdparents on my Moms side were married there. I have tried to get the certs but being in Canada and that do not take phone requests I have been reluctant to send my Visa etc #s to them.
If you are going to search there and if it is convenient, I would like to ask you if you could look up the marriage record.  I am most interested in the parents of the groom and bride, I understand usually the father only is listed.
the couple are.

Hi Audrey,
I was wondering if you could do two lookups for me at the Cathedral whenever you get the time. I would really like the copies of the certificates if possible.
When I contacted the records department I was told that they weren't able to do any lookups at the moment and I can't get there myself unfortunately.
The first one is a marriage on 23rd October 1810 between Thomas Duxbury and Jane Baron, and the second is the baptism of their son William on 28th July 1813.
I know that the earlier records don't have much information on them but I would really like copies if possible as I know for certain that Thomas and Jane are my gggggrandparents.
I am willing to reimburse to you for any expenses you may incur as well as travel expenses to and from Manchester.
Meanwhile, if you need anything looking up in Liverpool, please let me know.

Copiers are a bit hit and miss as to whether they work or not but if possible will get a copy of marriage certificate. The baptism will only be from parish registers so won't be as detailed as a birth certificate.
Will get details this time and if you still want a copy will get it again.

In prescence of Robert Hilton (signed name) and John Bunn or Burn 0marked with a cross)

Thomas Duxbury of this parish and township of M/c, gentleman and Jane Baron, spinster of M/c married by Joseph Brookes.
Both signed names.
In prescence of Mary Baron, John Baron and  James Heath.

Baptism on Wednesday 28/7/1813

William son of Thomas & Jane Duxbury of M/c.

I the column for trade, profession it had deceased and above this A Horney.
Baptised by J Brookes chaplain.

I have no idea what this means.
